Hello, my friends. I am in the throes of recording all these Meg’s Tea Room videos, and I was making one for the release day of Recipes for an Unexpected Afterlife, and I immediately started crying while trying to record it.

I wanted to pause everything and come over because, while yes, I want to thank everyone in the world who is purchasing this book and this story, it is you guys that made this book happen, it’s you guys. I don’t even have the words to express the impact that your being here has this week. It feels deep for me, and I don’t know how else to explain it. I hope this has had depth for you as well.

Throughout the whole publication process, not only have you been there and just watched, you’ve also actively participated in the lifting up of an indie author. There’s so much power in that and so much legacy in that very generous offering, and I want to thank you.

I want to thank you so much, from Deston and I, for believing first in me and my ability to choose a story that you guys will connect with, but also believing in Deston. Over the course of this year, you’ve seen for yourself that he’s truly a gift. A gift to the world. This story feels like such a gift to the world. None of this feels light or airy, it all feels important.

I don’t care if you are a paid member or a free member. If you came into this space and gave this generous offering of encouragement to Deston, even just one day, one comment, or if you purchased the book in advance, gave me direction with your input along the way, told someone about this story, shared it on your social, no matter how you touched this story and this experience, it meant so much.

I’m recording this video exactly one week before the release, and I know today is release day, so the book is out, all the hype is happening online, and tonight we’ll be celebrating with the Bindery Crew, which will be really, really fun. I want you to know that in my heart and on every panel where I’m speaking or talking about the story, you are at the top of my mind and the top of my voice. We couldn’t do this without you.
